So as a somewhat new player, I'm trying to figure out what the action points to cash ratio is. I'm in a Fletcher now, doing somewhat alright, still losing a lot, but that's the nature of the beast, eh? Going to change over to manual fire tonight and try to get it figured out. Thanks for info!

going rate seems to be in the 5 pts to 1 credit

Thanks for the reply. I must find a better way to make attack points then. My little fletcher isn't cutting it, especially since I can't torp worth anything! :(

I meant attack points. I play too many games. ;) I switched over to manual fire mode, and my accuracy went up, but my points did not. I think I'm just being impatient. Been playing in large games, but still have an extremely tough time in the 6v6 games that are mostly DD's. Other then here and trainworld.org are there any other web sites that could offer some tactics to compare with what I try to use? I need more info on torping as well, or maybe some kinda help in-game to show how to best setup torp runs. Thanks!

oh...attack pts..

theres not really a set ratio..because of the variables involved..some rules do exist..like

doing damage to higher lvl ships gives you more pts,
doing damage with guns at a higher angle gives you more pts.

Wow, alright. Makes more sense now. Am I better off to try and torp, run then come back to gun? I've been just gunning, since I can't ever seem to hit anything with torps, yet... Thanks for the help, btw!

This is where debates come in between guns and torps......Few are ever really good with both.

Generally, my guns will be in range before I can effectively torp anyone. I will tie them up in a gun fight and watch for anyone getting close. When I have someone in range, I will do a quick change to torps and let them have it.

Thanks Teledor. As I've been explaining the game, I've noticed that the 2 main tactics most people use are the shoot from a distance, or run in, launch torpedoes and flee hoping to evade torpedoes themselves. I've tried both, seem to have better luch with the Fletcher shooting from a distance. Thanks again for all the tibits of info, hopefully I'll gain enough knowledge to last a bit longer now!

Hey! Whaddiya know? I played for a good 6 hours or so yesterday and found that with a little tweak in my play style I can do decent damage! I went from a level 17.8 gunners to level 19! My BO went from just starting level 17 to 18.5! I find that with the Fletcher, I use guns to bring targets inside of gun elevation 10 and if they get close enough to where I have to drop elevation below 10 degrees then I usually can get them with torps. I played big battles for a while, but found that smaller DD games are better for my level at the moment. I got in a big battle later on in the night when someone in a Japanese BB showed up, found a lone heavy cruiser with no DD support and got 5 direct torp hits and some splash damage on it. Didn't sink it, but did take out 2/3 of his DP! Thinkin that I should get even more better since I just upgraded to the dual 4" cannons which I'm told are the best weapons for the Fletcher. Thanks again for all the tips and support! Hope I can give some assistance back in the future!
