As some of you already know, I hold weekly free XP/Credit sessions for new players.

From now on these sessions will be held at Area 7. Here's the grid map for you guys..
http://www.giddieup.net/navyfield/portal/modules.php?name=Content&file=viewarticle&id=11
You can click on the + sign at the top middle bar of your screen in the game and it'll bring up that map, then you can just click where you want to go, rather than use the arrows.

The sessions will be held sometime from 9 PM - midnight, PST. number of sessions depends on the week, but usually we have 3-5 sessions.

Due to the big influx of new players, new rules will be enforced from now on.

1. only lvl 1-16 players will be allowed to participate..A fast way to know if you are qualified...take a look at your rank graphic and you'll know if you qualify..

heres a link to the rank graphic
http://www.giddieup.net/navyfield/portal/modules.php?name=Content&file=viewarticle&id=6

and also, this does not mean that if you already have a lvl 50 BO and you just started training a new crew, that you can join these sessions and play... yah..you know who you are.

2. Games will be made as NO torpedoes allowed games. I was nice in making the previous games normal games and just enforcing a no torp rule, but some people just had to ruin it for others...so from now on, if you are packing torp racks, dont come here.

Any High level CL/CA are welcomed to join if you are feeling generous and want to contribute back to the community.

The number of players per sessions depends on how many CL/CA I got helping me. Obviously, the more CA/CL we have, the more new players we can accomodate per game.

A couple things to watch during the game.

1. When you join the game, some of you go to bravo because you see all the big ships in that team. please, go back to alpha..the whole point of the exercise is for you to shoot at the big ships.

2. Watch your Friendly fire.. I see a lot of new players just shooting like a maniac, and dont watch where their shots are landing...You do know you can kill your own teams right? If a teamate is on you, stop firing until he's clear of you. You need to learn this concept as it happens during real battles too, and people arent good regarding their own teamates firing on them.

3. Remember, this is a training as well. It's not just free XP.. Make the best out of it. Theres nothing gained if just drive next to the big ships and start firing. Learn to shoot from a distance. This is harder to learn in real games where the enemy is out to kill you, not to mention you get more money/XP from shooting from farther out. So practice it in here and get better at it. If you learn how to shoot, you'll get better at it in battles and make more money in the process.

4. Prior to game start, stay quiet for a minute so that I can explain the rules quickly..it's hard to explain when everyone is talking.

That's it...enjoy the game.

EDIT NOTE: Area changed to area 7
EDIT NOTE: Time range changed to 9 PM - 12 AM PST

Servus!

If i ever get this game to work i would like to join your session.
I live in Austria (CET=GMT +1).

Actually i have problems to start the game. I already have posted it at the navyfield-forum.
I will reinstall the game and the patch and will look if it works then. I always had the text "Connecting to update server" and it took up to 30min to start the game...and then it crashed.

How can i attach a pic.

papajohns
03-11-2005, 03:26 PM
what you mean? like in the thread?

just use the attach file option below.....

but theres a limitation..i think its like 100k or something..

Harald1050

I tried to attach a pic, but i am limited to much less than 100k. The pic has a size of 23/24k. This is what i says:
Exceeds your quota by 12.6 KB. Click here to view your attachments

What my prob is. I played this afternoon for hours. Now i have the old prob that i have to wait 30min till the game starts and crashes. Meanwhile i ave a black screen with "connected to update server" and it seems it loads something (main.dll, sound, data, etc.). It takes up to 30min...everytime. I closed all virus and firewall programs. Op system is XP. any ideas?

Now i am waiting for more than 1 hour that game starts. It still say processing update. Weird.

mm....try to increase the compression on ur pic to reduce its size :)

the reason i try to limit the size its cuz this stupid software dumps the attachment into the db rather than a file and then a reference to it....what a load of crap...

as for your problem....i would keep copy of the manual patch and the game downloaded from the site as backups..and then copy them into your playing folder and start from there...

if it happens everytime.i suggest you contact NF at navyfield@gmail.com.. as us mods cant really do much troubleshooting... no access to server logs

oh..btw..if you have questions..create another thread..this thread is not to discuss problems connecting to the game

Strange thing happened. After 90min of loading i was bored and hit space than F1 key and it started with no probs. Again i tried F1 key and it worked.
I will try it today too and see if it works again.

Uh, which days are these? I've been hovering around 0 credits for a week now, win 3-4 games, lose 1, wash rinse and repeat. Oh, and this thread was what made me join :P

Edit: also, is it possible for me to participate with a level 17 crew in my Z1, even though I only have two guns (cause I'm so poor)

Hello:

Time is a tad late for me since I get up around 4am CST but if this is held
on a friday or Saturday night I would be more then happy to help out, After
all it was NF that gave me a free 100k gift for a simple written report.

how did you arrive to 4 AM central from 9 pm pacific?

Sp3ctre18
06-02-2005, 06:55 PM
the way I understand it, he says he GETS UP at 4 am CST, and you hold your sessions starting at 11pm CST; thus it's late for him because he would be asleep at that time. :P

well..considering that i stopped playing NF until further notice i wont be hosting any of these sessions anymore .... so you'll need to ask other mods that are around to see if they want to take over this..

my NF involvement has decreased to sustaining this site until i feel like going back to be a mod again.. maybe when some of the whiners of the game have decided to stop being such babies
