If things were simple we would be looking for Sailor Ratings like this.
(and not so simple in (brackets)

Bridge Operator 15 (Restore Repair Engine of 11 11 11)

Gunner 12 Accuracy 11 Reload

Torpedo 12 (Reload of 11)

AAW 12 (Reload of 11)

Restore 12 (Repair Engine of 11 11)

Repair 12 (Restore Engine of 11 11)

Engine 12 (Restore Repair of 11 11)

Scout - Aircraft 12 (others do not matter)

Fighter - Fighter 12 (Aircraft 11)

Bomber - Bomber 12 (Aircraft 11)

Seaman - (Potential, Accuracy, Reload, Torp, AAW, Restore, Repair, Engine, how about Aircraft?)

Now here are the questions:

1) Where do you see evidence the a Bridge Officer with 15 10 10 10 in Restore Repair Engine, all things being equal has a higher AFFECT than a Bridge Officer of 15 8 8 8?

2) Where do you see evidence that for Restore that Repair and Engine matter? (same for Repair being Affected by Restore and Engine, and Engine being Affected by Restore and Repair)?

3) I see that Gunners, and AAW, and Torpedomen would want to be 12 (in accuracy for Gunners) and 11 in reload, but is this really work for all 3? Does Accuracy Affect AAW and Torpedomen?

4) What does Aircraft actually do? Is it rate of being shot down? Is it Line of Sight? Is is speed of lauch? I have seen people recomending Aircraft 12 and Bomber 10 not the reverse for Bombers. I know this is all relative but all things equal if you rolled perfectly what are the correct highest possible for each?

5) And Seaman - I tossed an all 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 with an 11 in potential when i read somewhere that Potential matters.

potential just determines how far BO's can spot shells and torpedos. The repair and restore just add up and are nice at high lvl.

Test's made by sirdante determined that Rep/Rest sailors do not affect engineers. But Engineers can add to SD.

Torp stat only affects rld for torpedos and is not affected by accuracy. AAW only affects how much dmg is done to airplanes by AAW and is not affected by accuracy.

Aircraft determines how well it can dodge AAW and possibly flack but im not sure. I am lvl a +12 bomber because the accuracy of my other DB sucks and cant hit a non moving nevada...

Sorry I didn't reply to your private message but my reply was to long... these were the questions you asked and my best answers...


The Restore and Repair rating of a BO may add to SD?

-only restore adds to SD, I believe the repair rating on a bo does add to your repair rate because on my ff without support sailors I repair fairly fast.

Which is it Restore or Repair or both? I am assuming that Engine rating may not matter? Has this be tested?

-sirdante said that only engineers affect the overheat of a ship and I would trust him.


With Restore, a 12 and 11 in Repair with Engine not mattering will give you the best SD and visa versa?

A higher restor rating (+12) will give more SD but its good even for restor sailors to have a high repair rating (+12 or +11) because they can add to the repair speed. Being a restore sailor means that it gets a bonus in restore and reduction in its repair potential. There are no hidden modifiers that would make a repair guy inherently better at repair than a restore guy with the same repair stats and # of experts or vets.The name doesn't matter its just the added ability.

With Engine and 12 10 10 in Restore and Repair will add to SD? is 11 9 better? Again which affects SD the most Restore or Repair.

As I said before restore is the only thing that affects SD.

With Torps and AAW - you are saying that Accuracy does not matter does reload?

-the torp skill only affects the speed at which torps rld. Torps rld speed is not affected by the actual rld stat. Same with AAW however the AAW stat affects the hit rate of the AAW not necesarily its rld.

-this part depends more. People normally recommend to have a +12 aircraft and minimum of +10 bomber for bombers. The reason for this is at high lvls DB's are not likely to miss (the bombing skill) but may be shot down by large amount of AAW (the aircraft skill reduces this chance) As for fighters you may have to decide for yourself. The fighter skill affects how often fighters hit enemy fighters while aircraft reduces this chance. Fighter is more offensive Aircraft is more defensive.
