Scout / Fighter Question

When my German scout hits 40, and I am able to change his class to fighter, will I be able to launch him off of my CA like a scout, but with more protection for my ship? Want to know before I make that mistake.

fighter pilots wont be able to pilot scout planes, which are the only planes allowed in CL to BB..

I had the same dilemma on my US crew, and my scout had good fighter stats.

IMO, best to convert him for later sale, and either start a new scout, or help a buddy level a new CV pilot so you have a scout.
