Working out base stats

How do I work out wat my sailors base stats were at the beginning of their caeers? I know I have to look up the ability chart and do some subtracing but wat do I subtract from where. I found a thread about it but couldn't understand it fully. I must be dumb I think I need a good detailed explaination.
The sad part is when I first started I didn't realize how important the stats would be later. :confused:

A lot of us are in the same boat for base stats cause we had not played this game before and there is not a very good beginners guide.

Basically to figure out the base stat look on the sailor chart and see what got added for his lvl, That is the number you will subtract.

An example is say on a brit gunner he is +22 accuracy and +21 reload gunner you look and see that when he was converted to brit and made a arm sailor he got +8 bonus for being an arm sailor and +4 for becoming a gunner which equals 12. You will take that 12 and subtract from 22 and 21 which makes him a base of 10 acc and 9 reload.

No good beginners guide? How about no beginners guide at all! How about really bad documentation overall? Took me 3 restarts to figure out what was going on!
