Q boat balance

Well, the NF game and forum are down..so I got bored.

So many people were complainging about the Q boat being unbalanced, so lets take a poll !!!

What annoys me are unrealistic things. 6" guns on frigates, for example (the recoil would likely capsize the ship over and/or tear it apart). A 7"+ belt on DDs falls under this category.

Also, when a 40K DD can fairly consistantly beat 200+K CL1s 1-to-1 without torpedoes, something is wrong.

though Q class is weak against torp.. they can easily dodge them as they are fast. but so what can we conclude here? make lesser displacement for Q class? this will disallow use of some double cannons. it's a hard choices..

a fully armored (full displacement) q class can only go around 33..

so they not as fast

A simple solution to fix this and any tipe of armour whoreing or torp ships going at 70 knots would be to make a min ammount of sailors per sailor.

FF = 55
DD = 110
CL = 220

That's just comming out of my head it would need to be worked on but it would solve most problems in this game. Or make it so you reap a much bigger reward to have more sailors.

Q

Diety of DD no torp games

almost indestructable skimisher with 6" guns + armor. (its range can keep if safe from torp whores)

can eat up a whole formation by itself with 3x4" + armor.

Extremely good chaser with 3x4" + no armor + reduced crew. Eats torp whores and most range DD for lunch while capable of slugging up to par with another non-q short range dd. (46/60 speed, 11second overdrive, best endurance out of the DDs)

has good potential with 6" + good gun crew, but no one runs this configuration. (people that like speed and range probably play germans, and other q configurations are just plain uber...damage wise)

As long as no one bashes MY no-armour, non-speed demon Q, that's fine with me.
