Well looking at the results so far its obvious that germans are overpowered and british are somewhat lacking while japan & america are reasonably balanced ;)

Most of the IJN consists of torp whores, who need a map to find Area 7, let alone these forums.

Oh PJ check ur PM box please kthxbi.

well tbh..i dont know what my primary nation is..i play all 4 of my national crews when i play usually...( cept germans..i find them to monotonous)

by level i guess that would make my primary usn/jap both in high 40's..

Have always found germany is the way to go but since i have just got my first us ship i have found i like them with all there guns (not as powerful but who cares) so now i don't really know.

The Germans are simply screwed: expensive armor, expensive ships, expensive sailors, wimpy guns, boring single game strategy, only interesting on higher levels. Those are the guys looking around a lot to find out why, in contrast to history, they are supposed to be so bad. They end up here and enter the poll. Hence the high Germain count in the poll.

Why would the Jap top whores and the UK armor whores come here anyway?

Thus, the countries with the least number of votes are too strong!

Well i have to admit since i have started to use other countries ships i have found they all have there strong points and there bad points. but to say the german have wimpy guns is just worng. also they are expesive and this is cose there guns rock, and when a torp hits u are history but i have also found that the US ships are also very powerful with there masses of guns.

Really? You think KM guns rock? The only thing the KM guns have in their favour is their range. The shells do about half the damage of the Jap, UK, or US shells, and then there is the 'inaccuracy feature', which looks more like a bug to me, that keeps KM gun from doing block shots. Not only that, the range advantage you have with the KM leaves you only with a very small margin of error and without accuracy, which you need at those ranges, you're hardly hitting anything if it is not the size of an office block (the spread is so terrible with the inaccuracy bug that I'm only hitting like 4 out of 10/12 shells on the BB training mission from max/long range, if I can spot them that is). Then you have the added disadvantage that with most gun at maximum range your BO is unable to spot them and you're left shooting at shadows even with a really good BO. And remember, you can't use the spotting FCS, since you'll not hit anything again!
So. lets see what we've got:
- KM guns are expensive
- KM guns arrive at higher level than other country's guns (calibre wise)
- KM guns do about half the damage than other guns (compounded by lesser calibre)
- KM guns are innately inaccurate and can't do block shots (reportedly even not with 1400+ acc)
- KM guns overshoot the BO spot range at max range (even with a 15 BO and the acc FCS)

So, believe me, the KM guns are wimpy. Also remember that the advantages that the KM has all come into play at higer levels. The single gunner sailor and the gunnery advantage of the KM all need quite a lot of level ups to be noticable. And even so, they are immediately offset by the innate inaccuracy of the KM guns, so what was the point?

So, new players who have to choose a country, be aware, the KM is the most difficult and at DD/CL level the most frustrating country to play:
- Very expensive, I mean it seems like everything is more expensive than for other countries
- The ship tree is very limited and although some ships are average to good, most compare quite poorly
- Forget about armor, not only is it heavy (ridiculous), it's not worth the weight. There is no tradeoff here, use the minimum needed
- All the advantages come into play at higher level and are offset by the disadvantages
The only reason for me to play them is because they ARE so difficult. Nothing more boring as plowing a Q in at close range and let fly. Simply boring! But, appartently the way NF wants it.

But what annoyes me most is that it is so easy to balance the KM against the other races:
- So NF wants KM armor to be crappy? Apart from there being no historical basis for this but simply out of game-balance purposes? Fine, adjust the AP/HE downward but keep the weight the same for all countries (say 114 or something). What's the reason for having decent AP values if you can't slap it on? I don't want to get KM armor whoring, but SOME balance is not too much to ask.
- So NF wants KM guns to arrive later? Fine, I'm OK with that, but PLEASE cut out on the inaccuracy thing. If NF wants the KM to work from distance give them the tools to do it: no artificial inaccuracy of KM guns, longer sight distances so we can actually spot where those LR shots are falling. That's all. I don't mind that we do half the damage, just let me get more of the shots on target (or anywhere near would be nice). Let me get the most out of my gunners!
- Why do the KM torps get WORSE at higher level? Does anyone actually use the higher level torps? This must clearly be a bug! And it's in there from the beginning it seems. Really!

If these changes were made, you:
- still have KM that couldn't go toe-to-toe with anything, because of their crappy armor, BUT, at least they would have the OPTION of getting at least some of it.
- thus still have to fight from long range, but at least you are HITTING something when you do, AND, you have the slight advantage of longer vision range (which you need for spotting).
- and to increase the options a bit further, you would have some interesting higher level torps to scare off those boats that come too close. I don't expect the KM to go TW much at these levels anyway, but it would be interesting to have some torps useful at higher levels.

But, that will never happen, because, well the NF team doesn't seem to care much about the KM. Which is why I'm now working up a UK crew. I wonder why.
