View Full Version : Fleet matches and an idea

So I have been kicking this around for a few days and thought I would put it out there.

Why not take the map and divide it between the exisiting fleets. We then fight over each area (alla risk) and gain territories as a fleet wins. We would setup a screenshot of the 25 areas and shade them in as a team captures them. The winner would be whoever conquers the world or a set time runs out, say 1 mos. We would take and fight a best of 5 or best of 7 for each area and that would be the winner for the area. As we get more fleets we could split up each area and make it that you have to conqueer each territory in the are map to win the area.

We could set this so that we have matches weekly or whatever would work for the mods. We would need a Mod to step forward and help get this setup along with monitoring matches. We would get out of area 7 which would be a good thing. For the areas that we cant fight in such as the noob area or such we could either make it that we fight in ff in that area or for say area 24 (I think it is) we designate another area to fight in but keep the territory gain for that area.

I appreciate any comments or suggestions.

I could see it working well if most of the time the game ran like normal but once a night the mods start a game to capture an area and the winner gets special benefits in that area from that point until someone else takes it.

thats wayyyy too manual and require too much mod time just to sit through the battles......if mods are to sit through every game needed, then they wont have time for anything else.

and i doubt NF will implement a major code change that would require for the game to work if its implemented within to server to offer that type of gameplay..

after pondering for a couple days, i think i've thought up of a way to write a script that'll enable a "self policing" practical way to play this type of gameplay..

the basic outline will just let you fleet play vs each other without mod supervision (as long as the fight is conducted outside XP grids) for the matches... then each side will enter the result (hence requiring fleet trusts ) and the script will record the data.

this way u guys can go play among urselves just for fun in case normal games are getting boring, and you wont bog down mod's time with all the matches that would be required.

ill write the code when i have time..prob will take like a week or less.

note that this wont be sanctioned by NF, so you guys are doing it just for kicks and braggin rights, so dont expect any rewards if you win the gridwar

actualy I posted this on the navyfield forums also and one of the chinese vets said tthey have something similar on the china server. Not sure if it is coming to this server or not.

As for self policing it would not be that hard to run it similar to what they do for a lot of other ladders. They have the groundwork set on teams and rules. The clans set a time to play. They post a screeenshot of the final score and a win or lost and the ladder updates the record. Any disputes would be handled by a 3 man jury and all decisions are final.

As for clans rigging a game they have a vested interest not too because they are losing territory. As for the world map all you would need is a copy of each clans shield and you could use those to update the 25 areas. as for playing in areas that have exp. I dont see what the big deal would be as that you are still losing territory this means that an Ab game would not be an issue. If it is something that teamnf would be uncomfortable with then we designate substitutes for those areas.

Just some thoughts on how this could happen. If it is allready a feature in the game and we hit retail in OCT then it might be just to wait. As for a script that would need to written I dont really see what we would need to code except maybe a forum space somewhere.

the script is so teams submit their score and thats it..no one else has to do anything...

but hey.if you want to go the manual way be my guest...but im not gonna go updating pictures everytime a team wins in a grid....

as for forum space..just start a thread....ppl will append to it as it goes
