I have a German Z31 with 2 configs
config 1
no torps
14 inch deck and belt
4x4.1 inch twin turrets (1 front 3 back)
displacment: 3349/3350
or config 2
2x4 21 inch torpedo lauchers
4x4.1 inch twin turrets (1 front 3 back just not as much ammo)
8 inch deck and belt with 9 point bulge
or 8 inch deck and 12 inch bulge with 4 point bulge
or 11 inch deck and 8 inch belt with 2 point bulge
Displacment about 3340/3350 - 3349/3350
(either way i like to pack on the ammo)

You mean 1.4 inch belt and deck right? How fast is your Z31, I can't be doing more than 35knts at normal cruising speed. Do yourself a favor and take off a bunch or armor, put 5.9s on it and run & gun at long range.

Yea, you get the twin 5.9"/ 48 TBK Sk C/36-T turret at lvl 21. Put that one on front and put the same gun, but single turrets on back (5.9"/ 48 TBK Sk C/36s). The Z31 has stupid mounts, but thats how the ship was suppose to be run. They shoot at 65 degrees so you can rain down some death on people, but they are hard to use. Right now your Z31 is no better than a Z1, because the Z1 can fit 5 twin 4.1 cannons.

Yer i understand that but what is the point when i have 4.1" twin turrets insteed of some twins on front and singles on back. yes the hits will do more but you get shoot less rounds and for me i think that having more round would do more. and until someone can prove otherwise i will still see that it is better (until maybe i try it lol)

standard rules apply....single for long range, doubles for close range..
the reason fro twins on front and single behind is like he said...the german Z boats mounts are dumb, and they are bigger on the single slot up in front, while the rear ones are smaller...

And there it is thou papajohns you said it yourself
"single for long range, doubles for close range"
and i find when i torp you big ships i need to be able to get in fast get off a few shots and torp them and for me twins do it so once again why would i need single when i can use twins. and papajohns what i was trying to get at was that i'm not sure whether the sie in calibre would have that much of a difference to use the 5.9's over 4.1's

I dissagree with the singles for long range doubles for short range, I think the doubles do just as well long range as the singles, if not moreso. I think that higher caliber gun (+more velocity) = long range
Like the difference between the Deutchland and the Admiral Hipper
The deutchland can mount tripple 5.9s that all have one aiming line, while the Hipper can mount more dual 5.9s.. because of the distance difference metween the single mounts the duals/singles in this case would be far harder to hit with then the tripples from long range even though there are many more of them (same thing for going on later in the tree and the more 8"ers vs. less 11"ers fight)
Or am I getting this wrong?

an 11" single has more range than the 11" triples. so for every gun turret, the less guns there are the more damage and range it has compared to the same caliber with more guns. the firepower per salvo is also less for singles, but since they can obtain higher ranges, that makes them useful for ranging, so singles are for range, doubles for close up.

thankyou i think your agument has help to prove that i do have the right idea by using the twin turrets for my torping trips.
