Hoping u read this papajohns. Ive been waiting to buy a dido for 2 days now & its still out of stock. Could u plz ask teamnf to restock? Also am i the only 1 that thinks having to wait for a lowly cl1 is lame? I understand the reasoning of wanting to control numbers of particular ships but the problem that creates is now alot of people keep their ships even after they upgrade to higher ones which stuffs up the system. This control should only really start at CA lvl & not so early.
Thankyou for your time.

Why in gods name does it even exist  ... ok now being a game developer myself, I have honestly yet in my entire career to see ANY good/successfull game that punishes new players (for obvious reasons).
Let me analyze this (and then ask for everyones opinion because i'm curious).
Balance side: technicaly this feature (at least by my interpratation of it) is meant to not allow high amounts of any one type of ship to exist in the game. The action of this is by limiting the amount available to all players.
Player frustration cause: Usualy players play an online game in order to interact and play with other players that share a similar interest in the game. Some play to compete, some play to advance and some just play because their friends do and get sucked into the 'social' game as many call it.
Now let's analyze an example set of players in each category with a random seeding of subsets ^_^.
Player A (new to mmo, does not care about advancement much, but does care about fairness and community, just plays to play)
Player B (collector/achiever type, will get the best equipment as fast as possible, really the game is just a conduit to get stuff)
Player C (Regular player, will play the game, get the best available[unlike player B will not hunt for the 'relic' items untill he is perfect] equipment and progress through the game steadily) <--Majority of the English Speaking game players
Now let's take a brand new launch of NF (boom new server appears from out of nowhere that noone can log onto except these player types jsut so i can illustrate this point).
first players in the game will be a majority of B types with a few C types that where interested and maybee A types that where convinced by said B/C types. lets say (THESE ARE NOT REALISTIC NUMBERS, just case points) there are 5 B types 10 C types and 7 A types. They all go German(jsut because i want to illustrate this simply) there are 10 LCs on the limit (aka finite amount). Now those first 5 B players are guaranteed to get them first, because they're hardcore and play like crazy. Then slowly the B players (possibly a players that are friends of those b players and play with them) hit that mark as well 2Apalyers and 3B players get the remainer of those ships.
Now B players are crazy collectors, so those 5 ships aren't going anywhere, they're staying in their shiplist till they can buy more.
C players will eventualy get to the point where they will sell their current ship and the players bellow them will get it (as desinged, i think).
But let's take four scenarios:
- the C player is right behind the last player to get the ship and cannot get one/has-to wait, becomes frustrated because he is essentialy 'stuck', may quit
- the C players A player friend can't get the ship, they can't play on the same level anymore, they both get frustrated and find a different game to play
- All the last tier ships are sold out and the new players can no longer get them, causing a "well i won't advance anyways" syndrome
- Enough extra players join the game that there isn't stock to let them advance at all.
Now here are my interpretations on this feature. It punishes players, in a poor attempt to balance the game. Although it might make sense in a game where all players start out equaly and race to it, in an MMO universe there are always new players getting appended, and because they started late they are getting punished.
[This is a VERY thin range of players, many more are in existance, this is just the ones that illustrate my point best]
(certain types have been omitted: including but not limited to people who just want to overpower newbies)
Ok so i'm an Engineer not a Designer, but let's try this anyways, please post your opinions. :-D i'll be reading
